Whistleblower Uncover Botched Abortion Epidemic

without comments

by Worthy News U.S. Service
COLUMBUS, OHIO (Worthy News)– Documents and information provided by an abortion whistleblower indicated that botched abortions occur much more often than the public is led to believe according to a leading pro-life organization, Worthy News has learned August 18.
Operation Rescue, a leading pro-life Christian organization, released transcripts showing disturbing information about two botched abortions that took place at different abortion clinics in Columbus, Ohio, within the past month.

Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, told Worthy News, "It is our understanding from conversations with our confidential sources in Ohio that abortion patients in Columbus end up in the local emergency rooms with alarming frequency. Our whistleblower says that these two incidents are just the tip of the iceberg. The true number of abortion complications is hidden from the public and it now appears that complications requiring emergency hospitalization have reached epidemic proportions."

Operation Rescue is demanding that the Medical Board of Ohio conduct inspections and close the abortion clinics in Columbus and around the state.

Operation Rescue received the information through its whistleblower program, which encourages abortion clinic workers, former patients, and anyone with knowledge of crimes that have been committed at abortion clinics to contact the pro-life organization.

Since the inception of the whistleblower program, Operation Rescue has been releasing an avalanche of evidence of abortion abuses which has resulted in license revocations, clinic closures, and other disciplinary actions against abortion clinics.

Panned Parenthood: Pro-Lifers Slam ObamaCare Sham

with one comment

Panned Parenthood: Pro-Lifers Slam ObamaCare Sham

Only 13% of Americans told CBS that they had personally benefited from Obama’s policies. As Ken Blackwell quipped, we had no idea that many people worked for Planned Parenthood! In fact, the President’s new health care law is such a gold mine for Cecile Richards’s group that she publicly thanked Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) with Planned Parenthood’s highest honor–the Champion for Women’s Health award. Because of Pelosi, Planned Parenthood is about to cash in on its biggest level of government funding yet. And in at least two states, the funding has already started. More than $197 million has been tagged for the killing of unborn children in New Mexico and Pennsylvania.

As the health care bucks start trickling in, Planned Parenthood seems increasingly worried about losing them. Over the weekend, Richards sent out a panicked alert to supporters trying to protect the money allocated for abortions in the high-risk insurance pools. When the National Right to Life Committee followed the paper trail and pointed out that the Obama administration was secretly forcing taxpayers to finance its abortion agenda under the health care law, officials at Health and Human Services (HHS) argued that the President’s Executive Order wouldn’t allow it. Planned Parenthood immediately fired back, insisting that a meaningless Order couldn’t trump the actual legislation. "This decision has no basis in the law and flies in the face of the intent of the high-risk pools that were m eant to meet the medical needs of some of the most vulnerable women in this country." Like us, they know that there’s absolutely no stopping HHS from funding abortion, because the language banning it never made it into the final bill. At the time of the Executive Order, both Planned Parenthood and FRC said it wouldn’t do a single thing to protect life–so Richards is rightfully ignoring it now.

Meanwhile, Democrats for Life and Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) are slamming organizations like ours for exposing the truth. Like some of the questionable "pro-life" Democrats who voted for the bill, DFL is feeding us the line that Obama’s Order magically blocks HHS from funding abortions. Hardly. The Pennsylvania plan specifically lists abortion as a covered service on page 14. Doctors are allowed to perform any abortion they deem "necessary" without bothering to define what "necessary" means. In New Mexico, HHS claims that the high risk pool program will only pay for abortion in the cases of rape, incest, and life of the mother. But that’s not what the state’s website says. On page 2, its high risk pool plan explicitly includes coverage of elective abortion.

Regardless of how they spin it, liberals knew that the bill funded abortion when the President signed it. At the end of the day, some pro-life Democrats voted "no," and they should be congratulated. But the Stupaks of the world, who continue to turn a blind eye to the truth, need to hear from their constituents. That’s the only way to hold politicians accountable.

Lingo Puts Freedom in Limbo

Can one word change the world? President Obama certainly hopes so. Since last year’s speech in Cairo, one phrase is subtly worming its way into speeches with high level White House officials. With incredible precision, the President is abandoning the term "freedom of religion" in favor of what he calls the "freedom of worship." Now to most people, that rhetoric is nothing to write home about. But to those of us standing guard for our faith in Washington, the shift is ominous. As Nina Shea, director of the Center for Religious Freedom said, "[Freedom of worship] excludes the right to raise your children in your faith; the right to have religious literature; the right to meet w ith co-religionists; the right to raise funds; the right to appoint your religious leaders, and to carry out charitable activities, to evangelize," and perhaps the most troubling, to engage in the public square.

This is the culmination of a 40-year process to expel God from America. First it was taking prayer and the Bible from public schools; then it was driving out the 10 Commandments from courthouses and nativities from town squares. Now religion would be squeezed out of every pocket of society until it exists only within the four walls of the church. This is more than semantics; it’s a bold leap forward to completely secularize America. We’ve already witnessed what the courts and culture have done to alienate faith. President Obama’s vision is to codify those decisions in policy–making it virtually impossible for men and women to exercise their religion in public. And that includes any church outreach like homeless shelters or orphanages. If we pursue this to its logical conclusion, America would eventually shut out or constrict anything having to do with Christ. President Obama says plenty of things he doesn’t mean. But in this, his pursuit of wiping religion off the map, we should take him at his word.

ACLJ wins federal case against Planned Parenthood

without comments

The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has ruled in favor of the American Center for Law and Justice’s client in a multi-million dollar fraud case against Planned Parenthood affiliates in California.
Click here to read our press release.

ACLJ attorneys are representing a former employee of the Planned Parenthood affiliate in Los Angeles, who is now a federal whistleblower.  A federal district court in California had dismissed the case, but the Ninth Circuit’s ruling reinstates the lawsuit.

This is a tremendous victory – thanks to your continued support
While this case is by no means over, winning this appeal means we have gotten the federal claim over the threshold hurdles and can now get down to the heart of this case: the alleged fraud.

The federal False Claims Act (FCA) forbids government contractors from submitting ”false or fraudulent” claims for payment.  The FCA also authorizes private individuals to bring suit against the offenders to recover the fraudulently obtained funds.

The allegation in this case is that Planned Parenthood affiliates in California illegally marked up the supposed cost of various birth control drugs when seeking government reimbursement, resulting in tens of millions of dollars of overbilling – at taxpayer expense.  State audits in both California and Washington State have found Planned Parenthood affiliates guilty of overbilling.

When a former Planned Parenthood staffer sued the Planned Parenthood affiliates in federal court, charging the defendants with fraudulently overbilling the state and federal governments in the amount of tens of millions of dollars, a prominent law firm began representing the Planned Parenthood defendants in the case at no cost to the defendants.  The Planned Parenthood attorneys asked the federal district court to dismiss the case on technical jurisdictional grounds.

The federal district court accepted their arguments in part, and dismissed the case.  ACLJ attorneys then entered the case to handle the appeal.
The question on appeal was whether the former Planned Parenthood employee is a proper whistleblower under the False Claims Act.  We contended that the answer is ”Yes,” and now a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit has unanimously agreed with us.

The ACLJ’s opening brief dissected and refuted the arguments of Planned Parenthood’s attorneys point by point, explaining why the court of appeals should reverse the lower court’s judgment and reinstate the lawsuit.
You can read the ACLJ opening brief here:

Listen to Jay Sekulow Live! today for more details on this important victory.

This victory is only the beginning of this case – we expect it to continue – possibly to the Supreme Court – so please be in prayer and continue your support.

Report: Taxes prop up ‘dying’ abortion industry

Report: Taxes prop up ‘dying’ abortion industry

A new report asserts the U.S. abortion industry is in significant decline, held together largely through the $300 million-plus that federal taxpayers deliver annually to its major player, Planned Parenthood.

"It is very clear that the only abortion group expanding its business is Planned Parenthood, and the only reason it can do so is with the help of our tax dollars," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

It’s been not yet two years since the federal government started a case against the small Christian nutrition ministry called Daniel Chapter One, and soon, shortly after the full penalties of being found guilty are scheduled to apply, the principals will finally be able to present their first defense to the charges.

Video Friday Five: Former Planned Parenthood Director Abby Johnson

After witnessing an abortion via ultrasound, Abby Johnson left Planned Parenthood and began fighting for the rights of the preborn.

1. What drew you to volunteer with, and later be employed by, Planned Parenthood and the pro-abortion philosophy?

The first thing was that they kept talking about how Planned Parenthood’s goal was preventing unintended pregnancy and, so therefore, preventing abortion. That was something that I believed in. I believe that abortion shouldn’t be happening. They told me that they believed abortion should be rare and I got behind that; also them talking about how they wanted to help women and that was their goal to help women. And that was ultimately what drew me there.

Second-largest clinic in the world will target four neighborhoods in Houston.

Planned Parenthood is reportedly building the second-largest abortion clinic in the world in Houston.

The six-story building will be located in the middle of four neighborhoods that are at least 80 percent black or Hispanic.

Dr. Marcella Colbert, director of the Respect Life Office of the Diocese of Houston, said the abortion giant has been shifting strategy recently.

Commander in Mischief

President Obama may have given himself a "good solid B-plus" on his first year, but you can bet that Planned Parenthood is giving him much higher marks–especially after its Secret Santa gifted millions more in taxpayer-funded abortion. When the President inked his name on the $447 billion Omnibus bill yesterday, he was effectively signing the check for tens of thousands of D.C. abortions. Maybe that explains why ABC News is reporting that the President "seemed a little embarrassed about the whole deal, refusing to sign the bill in public or even to release a photograph."

Despite his call to "reduce abortions," this White House is freeing up more taxpayer dollars for the slaughter of innocent unborn children than any President in U.S. history. Initiatives like the "National Task Force to Reduce Abortions" and the promise that "No federal dollars will be used to fund abortions" appear to be nothing more than a facade. It masks an administration that has done nothing to reduce abortion–but everything in its power to expand it. Remember, barely 24 hours into his first term, this President immediately set to work undoing years of pro-life policy. Among President Obama’s first acts was lifting a ban on taxpayer-funded abortion–overturning the Mexico City policy just one day after the 35th March for Life. Today, he’s carrying on that tradition in his own backyard, forcing taxpayers to finance the procedure in a city with the highest abortion rate in the country (2005). The same will be done for the rest of the nation if the President succeeds in passing his so-called healthcare reform bill presently in the Senate. The same man who asked, "How can we reduce the number of abortions?" refuses to accept the easy answer: stop paying for them!

Mighty Casey Strikes Out

While Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) "thanked God" for taxpayer-funded abortion in the Senate bill, Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Nebr.) is doing everything in his power to stop it. The Democrats’ biggest obstacle to passing H.R. 3590 reiterated his position yesterday after rumors that Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) was drafting an abortion "compromise." According to Congressional Quarterly, the Nebraska pro-lifer told reporters that his party can’t count on his support unless the ban on taxpayer-funded abortion is tightened. "[T]hey just wouldn’t have my vote."

Nelson has apparently rejected the language that Sen. Bob Casey crafted, which falls far short of Rep. Bart Stupak’s (D-Mich.) popular amendment in the House. Instead of an outright ban, the Casey plan would shuffle money around-but still pay for the procedure out of a taxpayer pool. The House floated that idea several times. It was–and still is–completely unacceptable. Join us in thanking Sen. Nelson for standing his ground in this incredible health care pressure cooker. Regardless of what state you live in, call his office at 202-224-6551 and applaud him for representing Americans everywhere by refusing to give an inch on the culture of life.

Should Congress Really Be the One Lecturing on Personal Responsibility?

Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.), who is currently having personal responsibility problems of his own, added Section 2953 to the Senate legislation to authorize up to $400 million in grants on what he calls "Personal Responsibility Education for Adulthood Programs." As Steven Mosher, President of Population Research Institute, tells us the section "will supposedly teach kids ‘healthy life skills,’ including things like ‘goal-setting, decision making, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, and stress management.’" However, Mosher also points out that while the section does restore funding to abstinence programs, it also puts a heavy emphasis on "increasing condom or contraceptive use for sexually active yo uth." Translation: Congress wants to teach kids about sex-early, graphically, and often. A majority of your tax dollars would go to groups like Planned Parenthood, who tend to profit the more kids have sex. Maybe Congress should take care of its own affairs and leave the parenting to parents.

Something’s Rotten in the State of Denmark

When Speaker Nancy Pelosi touches down in Copenhagen for her grand appearance at the climate summit, she should know that reducing emissions isn’t the biggest thing on the agenda. Reducing the number of children, however, is. For years, the green team has used photos of cuddly polar bears and harp seals to cover up their real agenda of radical environmentalism: population control. This week, that message is front and center at the Denmark summit, as "climate cultists" try to force a global limit on procreation. Don’t believe me? Check out these posts by the Cornwall Alliance’s Cal Beisner, who is blogging live from the conference. Human life is being openly devalued to protect the ecosystem.

In our book, Personal Faith, Public Policy, Bishop Harry Jackson and I devoted an entire chapter to the importance of conservation as a core social value. We talk about how the world is on the verge of reaping the long-term consequences of this mentality that children are a drain on our resources rather than a reward from the Lord. Just look at Scripture. Nowhere in it does God’s command to "be fruitful and multiply" have an expiration date. Glenn Beck talked about this in a column on Monday. "The inconvenient truth overhanging the U.N.’s Copenhagen conference is not that the climate is warming or cooling, but that humans are overpopulating the world. As he pointed out, "…[W]here are the women screaming at the top of their lungs about reproductive rights? Do those rights only extend to eliminating children through abortion or would you like to hang on to your right to have children as well?"

Weapons of Math Destruction

Weapons of Math Destruction

Yesterday, President Obama took the opportunity to introduce his latest initiative: Educate to Innovate. With the help of Big Bird and Elmo, the White House will be pushing math and science proficiency–something his own administration could desperately use. Last week, ABC News broke the story that the stimulus spending didn’t add up, pointing to a serious breakdown in calculations by the Recovery Board. For starters, the website that monitors the stimulus dollars, www.recovery.gov, was bragging about job creation in places like Arizona’s 15th Congressional District. The only problem is the 15th District doesn’t exist! Nor does Puerto Rico’s 99th District, which is said to have received $47 million, and countless others. Apparently, the Recovery Board created to track the stimulus needs help keeping itself </ i>on track.

Hundreds of millions of dollars are either missing or misidentified. In dozens of fake districts, the website claims millions of dollars were spent to create a handful of jobs. Take Oklahoma, for instance. Recovery.gov says it took the Sooners $19 million to create 15 jobs! Still, Ed Pound, a spokesman for the Recovery Board, announced yesterday that the agency has no intention of correcting its math. "Unless we find significant errors causing public confusion, we are not planning further corrections," said Pound. "Significant errors" like inflating the number of jobs created by 20,000? "Humans make mistakes," Pound told reporters. They sure do–like agreeing to bills like this one.

If the administration is planning new lessons in science, sign the White House up for those too! Last week’s Climategate showed how misguided the President’s environmental policies–like cap-and-trade policies–have been. By cracking into the servers of the Climatic Research Units, hackers exposed the fraud of global warming in dozens of emails written by the world’s environmental experts. According to the messages, scientists were manipulating the facts to hide their own inconvenient truth, which is that global temperatures have actually been on the decline. Of course, plenty of scientists had debunked those theories before the controversy, but President Obama insisted on moving forward with his agenda in direct contradiction to the facts.

Baltimore Mavens Win One for Planned Parenthood

Under a policy passed last night by the Baltimore City Council, the area’s pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) will be forced to post signs on their clinic doors saying they don’t provide abortions or birth control referrals. The measure, which is the first–and hopefully last–of its kind passed the City Council by a 12-3 vote. President Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, the liberal pro-abortionist behind the idea, called it "a step toward making sure that women have the information they need to make the right decision for their health and their future."

Interestingly enough, the city refuses to apply these same rules to abortion clinics, which pride themselves on hiding the truth about unborn children, abortion, and its lifelong effects. Where is the same treatment for Planned Parenthood? Why aren’t its clinics required to post signs saying, "We’ll encourage your underage daughters to have an abortion without your knowledge or consent"? Or, "Our employees willingly cover-up sexual abuse and statutory rape of girls as young as 12."

Meanwhile, this same rabid, pro-abortion crowd is planning to lobby the federal government for a raise from the over $330 million it rakes in from taxpayers each year. In the health care debate, groups like Planned Parenthood are using imagery of coat hangers and "back alley abortions" to extort more money from Americans. PRCs, on the other hand, exist with one goal: to help the most vulnerable in society–mothers-to-be and their babies. And they do it with a fraction of the government aid that Planned Parenthood enjoys. The PRCs’ success, which we document in A Passion to Serve, A Vision for Life, is obviously threatening to their anti-life foes.

We Love Our Pork–But Tax Your Swine

In Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s health care bill, which passed its first procedural hurdle this past Saturday, there is a provision that would tax the makers of swine flu vaccines and drugs. The provision raises $2.3 billion annually from drug makers that sell their products through government programs. Thus, taxpayers will not only have the costs of the tax passed onto them by the drug companies, but their taxes will also be used to buy the vaccines. In other words, it gets you coming and going. Unfortunately, the swine flu emergency (so named by President Obama) is a window into a government-run health care system: long lines, federal officials offering reassurances, and rationing of the vaccine.

Planned Parenthood Fails to Silence Former Worker

without comments

The former Planned Parenthood director who quit after seeing an abortion procedure can continue to speak out about why she left the group, a Texas judge ruled.

Planned Parenthood officials accused Abby Johnson of copying documents before she resigned as head of their Bryan/College Station clinic and wanted an injunction to prevent her from sharing what they called confidential information about the business and their patients.

Johnson held that the allegations against her were false, and that she left Planned Parenthood "on good terms."

"Planned Parenthood even called me and offered me my job back with more money, but this was not about money or me being angry, it was about my change of heart on abortion," she said.

District Judge J.D. Langley made his decision after nearly two hours of testimony, saying Planned Parenthood lawyers did not offer convincing reasons "to warrant the extreme remedy of injunctive relief."

Pro-life groups are relieved by the ruling, which also lifted concerns about free speech.

"I am gratified that Planned Parenthood has failed in its misguided effort to silence its former clinic director… who experienced a spiritual conversion after witnessing an abortion and is now pro-life," David Bereit of 40 Days for Life said in a statement.

Johnson quit her job and joined the pro-life movement Oct. 6.
